Infographic Illustration

We create vector infographic elements that explain processes, products and service steps in a clear, usable way. From Observatory in Cape Town, we work with businesses across South Africa that need artwork ready for print, web and presentation use.

Infographics that make complex information easier to follow

Good infographic artwork does more than look neat. It gives your customer a quick path through a process, product range, pricing step or service flow without needing long blocks of text. We draw clean vector elements that can be arranged into brochures, pitch decks, posters, web graphics and manuals.

We work with businesses in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban, Pretoria and Bloemfontein, as well as smaller towns that still need proper print files and tidy visual communication. If you need one icon set or a full information graphic with diagrams, labels and callouts, we can build it from your brief and source material.

  • Process diagrams and step-by-step service flows
  • Product comparison artwork and feature callouts
  • Training visuals for staff handbooks and inductions
  • Customer-facing explainers for packaging, menus and social media

What is included in an infographic illustration job

Each project starts with the information you want people to understand. We then turn that into vector artwork with a clear visual order, simple iconography and consistent styling. The final artwork is suited to A4, A3 and larger print sizes, and can also be adapted for screens at 1080 px or higher depending on your layout needs.

Included in the service is the drawing of the main visual elements, spacing for text blocks, alignment of icons and export of the agreed final files. If your graphic needs icons, arrows, numbered steps, labels, diagrams or small scene details, those are built as part of the illustration rather than pasted in as loose parts.

  • Vector icon sets and custom symbols
  • Arrows, labels, timelines and numbering systems
  • Simple charts or process steps based on your data
  • File exports for print and digital use

Bitmap tracing versus hand redraw for better control

Source artwork often arrives as a fuzzy logo, a scan, a screen grab or a photograph. Tracing a bitmap can help in some cases, but it can also leave ragged edges, clumsy curves and awkward corners that become obvious when the image is enlarged. For logo redraw work, we usually rebuild the shapes by hand in vector format so the lines stay crisp and the proportions remain true.

Hand redraw also gives better control over small details like corner radius, line weight and spacing between icons and text. That matters when the artwork needs to print clearly on municipal notices, product inserts or packaging where space is tight and the message must still read quickly.

  • Trace when the source is simple and clean enough for it
  • Redraw when curves, proportions or line quality need fixing
  • Use vector illustration when the image must scale without loss
  • Keep line weights consistent across the full layout

File formats, print specs and working sizes

We supply final artwork in the formats most businesses need for handover, print and production. Vector files are preferred because they can scale to a small leaflet or a large banner without becoming blurry. If your printer asks for a certain layout, bleed or colour setup, we can prepare the export accordingly.

For local print work, we commonly set files in CMYK with 3 mm bleed where needed and safe margins for trim. For digital use, we can provide RGB versions at the right pixel size. If your project includes technical labels or fine line work, we keep the line thickness practical for print so it does not disappear on coated or uncoated stock. Coastal humidity in places like Durban can affect some finishing choices, so the artwork needs to match the material too.

  • SVG for web and scalable digital use
  • EPS and AI for press-ready vector handover
  • PDF for print approval and production
  • PNG or JPG when a flat image is needed for internal use

Our process from brief to final artwork

We keep the process direct. First we review your content, brand colours and any reference material you already have. If the brief is not fully mapped out, we help shape the structure so the final graphic makes sense to the reader. Then we draft the artwork, check proportions and tidy the flow before export.

Most clients send text, rough sketches, spreadsheets or reference images. You must own the artwork you send or have the rights to use it, especially where source logos, diagrams or photos are involved. That keeps the job clean and avoids issues later when the file is used in print or online.

  • Brief review and content sorting
  • Concept sketch or rough layout approval
  • Vector drawing and text placement
  • Final checks, file export and handover

Turnaround, pricing and file upkeep

Turnaround depends on the amount of artwork, the number of steps in the infographic and how complete your source material is. A simple single-page graphic with a few icons is faster than a multi-section training illustration with charts, labels and custom scenes. We do not quote blindly. Pricing is based on the drawing time, complexity, revisions and the final file set required.

For redraw updates, many businesses brief us when a logo, map or diagram changes shape, wording or usage. A practical review point is whenever brand colours, venue names or layout notes shift, especially for active retail, tourism or packaging material. That keeps the artwork current and prevents old details from slipping into print or digital use.

  • Pricing based on illustration complexity and file scope
  • Revision allowance agreed before work starts
  • Updates for product changes, menus or process changes
  • Re-export available when new sizes are needed

Who this service suits in South Africa

This service suits manufacturers, service businesses, training teams, agencies, estate and property groups, food brands, logistics firms and public-facing offices that need information shown in a simple visual way. Whether you are based in Observatory, Stellenbosch or Paarl, or you run operations in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban or Port Elizabeth, we can prepare the artwork for your audience and your printer.

We also work well on materials that must stay readable under real-world conditions such as shop lighting, outdoor noticeboards and office notice packs. If your communication needs to be practical, easy to follow and ready for use in South African conditions, infographic illustration is a solid choice. It keeps the message clear without overloading the page.

Redraw and file questions

Do you create the infographic from rough notes?

Yes. We can work from rough notes, a process list, a spreadsheet or a marked-up sketch, then turn it into a clean vector illustration with proper flow.

Can you redraw old graphics that are low quality?

Yes. If the source is blurry or too small, we can redraw the elements in vector form so the final file prints clearly and scales properly.

Do I need rights to the artwork I send you?

Yes. You must own the artwork or have the right to use it. That applies to logos, images, diagrams and any reference material supplied for the job.

Have a blurry logo? Send it to the studio.
