What we supply for print, screens and signage

We create vector artwork that holds its shape at any size, whether you need a small social graphic, a shop sign, a menu header or artwork for packaging. Our work covers logo redraws, custom brand icons and hand-drawn illustrations that are prepared for practical use by South African businesses. Files are supplied in common formats such as SVG, EPS, PDF and AI, so your printer, signwriter or in-house team can work from the same artwork without redoing the job.

Clients often come to us with a logo that has been saved too many times, a bitmap that looks soft at larger sizes, or a drawing that needs to be rebuilt properly for print. We can trace where that is the right approach, or redraw by hand when the artwork needs cleaner lines, better balance and more accurate detail. The aim is always the same: files that are tidy, editable and ready for real-world use.

  • Logo redraws from low-quality artwork, scans or screen captures
  • Hand-drawn vector illustrations for maps, menus, badges and scenes
  • Custom brand icons, mascots, patterns and sticker artwork
  • Print-ready files for packaging, labels, signage and stationery

Who we work with across South Africa

Our clients range from new businesses setting up their first identity to established companies refreshing older artwork for current use. We work with retail brands, hospitality businesses, manufacturers, professional firms, property teams and local operators who need artwork that is clear, well organised and easy to reuse. If the job needs a careful redraw, or if the illustration must carry a very specific local feel, we can shape it around the brief.

We are based in Observatory, Cape Town and support clients in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban, Pretoria, Bloemfontein, Port Elizabeth, Stellenbosch and Paarl. The work travels well because the file setup is practical and the artwork is built for use across different platforms and materials.

  • Startups needing a first proper logo redraw
  • Growing businesses wanting consistent artwork for print and web
  • Teams updating labels, menus, signage or packaging artwork
  • Companies that need illustrations for campaigns, training or internal use

How we rebuild artwork without losing the character

Every project starts with the artwork you send and the rights you hold to it. Customers must own the artwork or have permission to use it before we begin. Once that is clear, we assess whether the job is best handled by bitmap tracing, a full hand redraw, or a fresh illustration. Bitmap tracing can be useful for simple shapes and clean line art, but it is not always enough where curves, proportions and small details need more care.

A hand redraw gives us more control over the line work, spacing and structure. It is usually the better option when an old logo has uneven edges, awkward joins or too much noise in the source file. For new illustrations, we build the piece from the ground up so it keeps its form at any size and reads properly in black and white as well as colour. That matters when the same artwork has to sit on a sticker, a banner and a tiny label all at once.

  • We check your source artwork and confirm the best redraw method
  • We rebuild the lines, spacing and proportions for clean output
  • We prepare the final files in the formats you need for handover
  • We keep the artwork simple to edit, store and reuse later

Illustration services for everyday business use

Our illustration work covers the sort of artwork South African businesses use every day. Some clients need a mascot for a launch or promotion. Others want packaging illustration that helps a product stand out on a shelf. We also produce map illustration, menu illustration, sticker illustration, pattern illustration, infographic illustration, badge illustration, line illustration, scene illustration and social graphics. Each piece is created to suit the job it needs to do, not just to look good on a screen.

For example, a map may need clear road references and local landmarks. A menu illustration has to stay readable in small sizes and on laminated stock. A pattern may need to repeat properly without visible joins. A badge may need to work on embroidery, print and a website header. These are small details, but they matter when a business wants artwork that is tidy and easy to use, not something that causes problems later.

Why clients trust our process from first brief to final file

Clients tend to come back because they know what to expect from us. The brief is handled carefully, the artwork is checked before it leaves our studio, and the final files are set up for proper use. That includes attention to line consistency, spacing, file naming and the kind of export that suits the intended finish. We also keep communication straightforward, which helps when a project has several decision-makers or needs small revisions before approval.

Our quality control step is there to catch the little things that can slow a job down later, like thin lines that disappear in print, colours that do not separate cleanly, or a shape that looks fine small but feels off when enlarged. We work with Luyanda Mthembu as Managing Director, Ayesha Naidoo as Senior Vector Artist, Pieter van Wyk as Illustration Lead, Zanele Dlamini as Client Services Manager, Teboho Molefe as Prepress Coordinator and Megan Jacobs as Quality Control Artist. That mix of skills helps us handle both straightforward redraws and more detailed illustration work without cutting corners.

  • Clear handling of source artwork and usage rights
  • Practical file delivery for printers, sign makers and in-house teams
  • Checks for line quality, spacing and export suitability
  • Personal service from a South African team that knows local needs

Vectorisation Studio since 2011 in Observatory, Cape Town

Vectorisation Studio has been working since 2011 from our base in Observatory, Cape Town, serving businesses across South Africa. Over the years, the work has stayed focused on one thing: turning rough source art into usable vector files and hand-drawn illustrations that hold up in real business settings. We have seen how much changes in print, packaging and digital use, but the need for clear artwork has stayed the same.

Being based in Cape Town also means we understand the pace and pressure that local businesses deal with, from short lead times to supplier handovers and municipal approvals. Whether the client is in Stellenbosch, Paarl, Durban, Johannesburg, Pretoria or Bloemfontein, we keep the process practical and the artwork ready for production. If you need logo redraws, vector file conversion or custom illustration work, you can reach us through the enquiry form on our contact page and send through the details from there.

People return to us because we make the artwork usable the first time, and we keep the character of the original while fixing the problems that usually cause trouble. That balance matters to brands that want consistency across many jobs, not just one off artwork. It also means the final files are easier to store, share and reuse when new packaging, signage or promotional work comes up later.

Redraw and file questions

Do you redraw logos from low-quality files or scans?

Yes. We can work from scans, old logos, screen grabs or other poor source files and rebuild them as clean vector artwork. Depending on the artwork, we may trace simple shapes or do a full hand redraw for better results.

Which file formats do you supply?

We commonly supply SVG, EPS, PDF and AI files. If the brief needs something specific for print, signage or digital use, we can prepare the artwork accordingly.

Can you work from artwork I did not create myself?

Only if you own the artwork or have permission to use it. Customers need to have the rights to the material they send before we begin any redraw or illustration work.

Have a blurry logo? Send it to the studio.
